Buy Behaviorism, Because We’re Selling it!
The Task: Students in the new hybrid phd program were given a rather ill-defined task. In order to better learn about behaviorism, they were first given a weekend to individually come up with script ideas to “sell behaviorism” as a commercial (1 minute or less). In class, they worked in groups of 3 for just 3 hours to come up with one joint script, shoot the video, and edit it. The results of these videos were posted on youTube and can be seen below:
The Thinking: After showing the videos, we do the “directors’ commentary” – students would explain the part(s) of behaviorism that they were trying to sell, and how they approached the problem of selling it in video. It was clear there was a deep understanding of behaviorism going on!
